Prince & Princess Week

Curtsies, crowns, dragons and duels! What kind of things would you do if you were a prince or princess? Come explore some of the fairy tale kinds of fun we have planned for kids and their grown-ups in Discovery Play this week at Paradise Park, Kansas City’s premier family destination and amusement park!

What is Adventure Time?

It’s something special you won’t find anywhere else, and is included in your Discovery Play admission! At regularly scheduled times all day long, every day of the week, little ones explore an educational theme through play and by experiencing it in three different ways: Our friendly Paradise Park Play Facilitator engages our young guests in a story, game, art and cooking project. The curriculum is custom-designed by professionals who have put heart and soul into creating an enriching educational hands-on experience that is so much fun kids don’t even realize they are learning. Our program is inspired by unit studies, sensory play and experiential learning philosophies.
When you’re looking for things to do in Kansas City, Paradise Park’s Discovery Play center is our version of a safe, clean, children’s museum, offering an enriching experience with entertaining educational activities designed to help you connect with your child and make great memories!

This Week’s Activities

Performance Room

Imagination-capturing storytelling followed by a unique interactive activity that connects to the story and provides great kinesthetic learning.
This week: Our friendly Play Facilitators will share a fanciful story about a favorite character, Sofia the First, and her process of becoming a princess. Or, children will hear about the adventures of King Jack and the Dragon. Everyone will have the opportunity to be dubbed a prince or  princess as our Play Facilitator gives them the ability to do any kind of actions they deem fun! (bow or curtsy to another guest, neigh like a horse ready to ride around your castle grounds, pretend to blow a trumpet to sound the arrival of someone at your castle, etc.)

Art Studio

Children follow basic instructions to create their own art project that expands on the theme and encourages small motor skill development. We have all the supplies set up so you don’t have to have a mess at home!
This week: Children inspire their imaginative play! Our Play Facilitator will guide them through the steps, allowing them to practice following instructions while also creating their own design. After Adventure Time, continue the creative fun at the three other self-directed art project tables. Together you can talk about the book while you make a mixed-media castle scene collage and “Fire-breathing Dragon.” Craft a “Royal Wand” to pair with their royal crown and take home to play with and pretend even more.

Cooking Station

Kids love to make their own creative treat to eat when it’s finished. The Cooking Station teaches children to try new foods, work together and learn measuring skills. And, it’s just plain fun!
This week: We’ll give our guests the royal treatment. They’ll make their own “Royally Yummy Wands,” and share their very own official royal names while they wait for the baking to begin.
